SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation. It is the process of deliberately changing the design and/or content of a website or web page in an attempt to affect where it appears in a search engine’s search results. Generally, the goal of SEO is to get a site to appear as close as possible to the top of search results lists, because this usually results in more visitors to the site (more “hits”). Depending on the site’s purpose, SEO may target specific kinds of searches. As an internet marketing strategy, SEO takes into consideration how search engines work, what people are searching for, the actual keywords entered into search engines, and which search engines are used most by the target audience.
