A newspaper is a form of print media. Usually appearing daily or weekly, a newspaper contains information and comment on current events, interviews, sports results, entertainment news, radio and television listings and weather forecasts. Newspapers appear in tabloid format – which is compact, with mass-appeal content – or in broadsheet format – which is larger, with more in-depth and sophisticated content. In recent years, readerships of printed newspapers has declined and their circulation is dropping. With the advent of the internet, all major newspapers now have elaborate websites and are constantly updating content. The current popularity of portable, web-enabled devices such as smartphones and tablets means that many people are choosing to read news online or via digital subscription rather than buying a “physical” newspaper.
