Editing

In its most general form, editing refers to the work of an editor or a group of editors to create, update or manage communications content for a particular organisation and ensure that it has a unified tone, feel or purpose. More specifically, the goal of a newspaper’s editorial department is to make sure that all text for publication follows the same style guidelines, is factually accurate and fulfils the assignment’s requirements. A newspaper’s editorial department may also be responsible for writing editorials – that is, opinion pieces – that reflect the voice of the newspaper.
